Climbing is now a very well known activity. Speaking about it trigger off pictures of huge and smooth rockwalls where spider-like men move up in defiance of gravity. But we want to moderate that point of view. No need to be an athlete to practice climbing. Routes of lower grades enable to appreciate the fun of moving up rockwalls.
The Alpes Maritimes county is very rich in climbing sites. You can climb a sunbathed cliff with the Mediterranean sea at your feet or a Mercantour steep peak. The main sites close to the sea are named: Loubieres, Saint-Jeannet, Loup gorges. Others are more hinterland; they are: Peillon, Saint-Pons, Aiglun. The high peaks of the Merantour form the background to the Alpes-Maritimes climbing paradise. By clicking the button below, you get to a page showing different climbing sites.

For your first steps, we lend you the harness and the helmet. A jogging-type pair of shoes will do the trick. Later on, and if we have the right sizes, we can lend a pair of climbing shoes. The guide will of course brings the rope and the karabiners to belay you. Bring clothes suited to the season and which give you a freedom of moves.
We can divide the Alpes-Maritimes county in three groups:
1 - The easy access cliffs: they are : Loubiere, Saint-Jeannet, Peillon, etc. They have all grades routes, from easy to extreme. In this locations, it is possible to bring groups. But they also have routes for good climbers who hire a guide by the day.
2 - The cliffs who present long and hard routes; this is Aiglun for example. They are more suited for good climbers and small roped parties.
3 - The Mercantour peaks: there, the altitude makes this area a mountaineering site. It is also for good climbers and small roped parties.

The groups are from 3 people minimum to 5 people maximum for the initiation cliffs.
Clauses: the price only includes the professionnal guiding and the lending ot the gear as defined in the paragraph "the equipment".
